My name is Taylor Hodgkin, and I teach our youngest age group here in the PlaySchool class; 3 & younger 4-year-old children. I am the youngest of three, and daughter of Bill and Kelly Hodgkin. I graduated grade school from Cedar Springs Waldorf School, which was the only school I knew since birth, and then graduated from the Sacramento Waldorf High School (SWHS) in the summer of 2008.

I realized, at a very young age, that I wanted to work with children and animals and made a rather strong declaration to that fact in the summer before entering high school.

My journey toward becoming a teacher certified from a Waldorf Teacher Training Program began shortly after high school, when I enrolled in early childhood education courses at Folsom Lake College. My mom and I then enrolled in the LifeWays Training Program at the Austin Waldorf School, which served as the inspiration for starting BeeLoved Farm in September, 2010. I graduated from Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks with my LifeWays certificate in August 2011. I continue to fulfill my passion for working with children and animals. I was also a pet-sitter in Berkeley for 5 years but continued caring for children there as well. I have been a nanny for numerous Waldorf-committed families, two of whom are local pediatricians. After spending 5 years in Berkeley, I was fortunate to move back to Northern California near family and friends in order to pursue an official training to become certified through a Waldorf Teacher Training Program. My then boyfriend, Nick Martin, also wished to pursue his career aspirations.

I enrolled at the West Coast Institute in their Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training Program which has allowed me the privilege to work here at BeeLoved Farm. Nick also enrolled in an E.M.T. Training Course and the A.S. Fire Technology Program through Cosumnes River College, where he completed his Fire Fighter I training through their internship program.

I’ve enjoyed co-teaching both preschool-age and Kindergarten-age children in the PlaySchool & FolkSchool classes and feel so fortunate to have been able to implement all of the training I received from the West Coast Institute’s Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training Program to the children who are enrolled here at BeeLoved Farm.

Nick Martin, who also attended Cedar Springs Waldorf School, become my husband on our 7th year anniversary together on New Year’s Eve, 2020. Upon completion of Nick’s paramedic training he plans to make his career as a fire-fighter. Our first child’s due date is expected to arrive on his birthday, October 14th, 2021.

We enjoy my two dogs, Hannah and Stella, caring for animals, cooking, yoga, hiking, kayaking, back-packing, biking, baby-sitting, gardening, arranging flowers, de-cluttering/organizing and making things look beautiful.
